Endgadget has a great scoop on a new tablet computer, the ARCHOS 9. According to Engadget, fans of ARCHOS devices claim that the ARCHOS 9 has multitouch support but that claim is not supported in product information on ARCHOS site or in the video demonstration below. Whether or not ARCHOS 9 has multi-touch is important, but what is also important is is the fact that it runs on Windows 7 (a full operating system) and has a nice form factor. With a cabinet that is 9" long and (by appearances) about 6" wide it looks like it would be prefect for vidoes, games, and web surfing.
I like the ARCHOS 9 because it is not a claim shell notebook with a swivel screen - a form factor that is too bulky in my opinion to be practical. I would much prefer to use this thinner device with a FrogPad or some other portable keyboard.
The ARCHOS 9 probably will not be available until this October.
